Lot 235234:
INDIAN GALLERIED SILVER FAN SWEET MEAT TRAY SET
Description
Set of four Indian Hindi silver sweet trays, all of which can be arranged to make a full circle. The edges are galleried and decorated with scrollwork. On the back of one tray is Devanagari text which indicates that this set was originally a gift to a relative.
Weight: 397 grams
Size: 5.25 x 3.75 x 3.75″ each
Condition: The set’s metal content was tested with an XRF gun and was determined to be roughly 90% silver, 9% copper, and 1% zinc and other metals, which is equivalent to coin silver. These proportions are likely reflective of local Indian silversmith practices.
