These rare coins are survivors of Executive Order 6102 passed in 1933 stating that U.S. gold could no longer be privately held by a U.S. citizen. Most of these coins were then melted down by the government. As a result, very few pre-1933 gold coins still exist, making this set a must have for any coin collector.
