The Great Summer Discovery Auction
Lot 229325:
Description
Lot of three vintage and signed Dirty Dogs of Paris prints by popular tourism artist Boris O’Klein (1893-1985). To include “Pour moi, ça cera ‘Un Rouge Baiser'” (For me, it’ll be “A Red Kiss”), a picture of a couple of dogs in a bar eyeing their bartender’s backside, the joke being that they sound like they order red wine when in reality they refer to an anus (17″ x 13″), “Chacun son tour!” (Each in turn!), which depicts a line of dogs waiting to urinate on a tree (20.5″ x 9.5″), and “Champs-Élysées!” (Elysian Fields!), which depicts a leisurely scene on the famous Paris avenue of the same name (17″ x 13″). The former two feature copyright information in the upper left corner. All include hand-written titles in the lower left and the artist’s signature in the lower right. All pieces are contained in metal frames and are behind real glass.
Size: See description
Condition: Wear commensurate with age. The paintings suffer minor mold damage, the frames possess surface scratches, and the glass over “Champs-Élysées!” is cracked on the lower right corner. See pictures for more detail.
