Ceremonial wood female statue from the Bamana/Bambara tribe in Mali. This statue is produced as part of the Jo Society, a group initiation period where tribal youths undertake certain challenges and learn certain skills, the culmination of which is the creation of three statues, a seated male, a seated female, and a male or female attendant, of which this piece is an example of. Perfect for anthropologists, art historians, or any enthusiast of African culture. 8.2 lbs.
