The Black Friday Rebound 2-Day Auction - Part 1
Lot 215435:
Description

The bees on the body reference the Barberini family, a group of Italian nobles whose coat of arms featured bees and whose most famous member Pope Urban VIII, incorporated this motif on the baldachin of St. Peter’s Basilica. Their inclusion on these pieces grant them an air of wealth and sophistication. 7.3 lbs each, 14.6 lbs total.
Size: 17.25 X 9.5 X 5″
Condition: See pictures. Some of the bees are missing their wings and legs. One piece is missing the green felt on the bottom of its base.
