Vintage Chinese silk embroidery piece with the theme ‘One-Hundred Birds’. The piece features a peacock, hen, stork , pheasant, parrot, ducks, rooster, and dozens of other kinds of birds depicted in fine needlework. The menagerie symbolizes worldly prosperity. The Chinese text in the upper left section roughly translates to ‘Behold the One-Hundred Birds’ or ‘The Descent of the One-Hundred Birds’. The embroidery is in a Baroque frame painted a glossy black and is bordered by a sparkling gold-toned card. 10 lbs.
