Description
Antique clipped comic strips from the 1910’s and 1920’s, to include twenty-four of Gus Mager’s Monk comics (5 Sherlocko the Monk, 3 Tightwaddo the Monk 2 each of Henpecko, Rhymo, Gabbo, Coldfeeto, and Nervo the Monk, and one each of Boneheado, Bookkeepo, Foto, Grafto, and Kiddo the Monk) from around 1912 and one of Bud Fisher’s Mutt and Jeff comics from 1922. The Fisher comic is attached to a cardboard frame. Gus Mager is credited for developing the reliance on repetitious character archetypes in comic strip gags and Bud Fisher’s comic is often seen as the first daily comic strip.
