Paul Jackson Pollock was an American painter and leader of the abstract expressionist movement. He’s best known for his large-scale “drip paintings” from 1947 to 1951, which involved pouring or splashing paint onto a horizontal canvas using sticks, trowels, or knives. This technique, also known as “action painting”, allowed Pollock to view and paint his work from all angles, conveying a sense of movement and emotion.
