Description
Signed Yuichi Segemono Japanese Edo netsuke rabbit carving. Carving is approximately dated to the 18th Century. A "sagemono netsuke" refers to a small, carved Japanese figurine (netsuke) that is specifically designed to function as a counterweight for a "sagemono, " which is a small pouch or purse typically worn under a kimono sash, preventing it from sliding off by attaching to a cord running through the netsuke’s holes; essentially, the netsuke is the functional part that holds the Sagemono in place on the cord.
