Attributed to Andy Warhol (1928-1987, American). Watercolor recreation of Chinese Chairman Mao Zedong (or Mao Tse Tung) Propoganda. Painting includes following text: “Long live the golden seat!” in Mandarin. Stamped “Authorized by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts”, “The Estate Andy Warhol”, and “Art Gallery New York 530 West 25th Street New York, Ny 10001″.
Andy Warhol was a prominent American artist and a leading figure in the visual art movement known as Pop Art. His works explored the relationship between artistic expression, culture, and advertisement that flourished in the 1960s. Warhol’s art used various media, including painting, silk screening, photography, film, and sculpture. He is best known for his portrayals of iconic American objects and celebrities, with his most famous pieces including the Campbell’s Soup Cans and Marilyn Monroe series.
