Description
Vintage bronze statue copy of “Perseus and Pegasus” by Emile Louis Picault, a prolific artist from the 19th century. The piece depicts the eponymous hero hanging from his steed and brandishing the head of Medusa, presumably at the sea monster Cetus. The flared wings, windswept hair, and panicked expression contrasts with the the hero’s Stoic poise, underscores the Greek hero’s civilizing authority over nature and chaos. An inscription near the base reads “E. Picault – Salon des Beaux-Arts 1888”. A plaque on the opposite side reads “Collection Francaise – Made in USA”. 23.6lbs.
