21ST PRESIDENT C. ARTHUR RARE LEWIS SORENSEN DOLLS
Extremely rare Lewis Sorensen (1910 Р1985) Presidential Doll Collection President and First Lady pairing. This pairing includes Chester A. Arthur and his first lady / sister Mary Arthur McElroy. Mr. Sorensen became a leading artist and sculptor, specializing in wax. After World War II, Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt commissioned Mr. Sorensen to create a set of presidential dolls for her home inHyde Park. Mr. Sorensen created only 3 of each doll. This is a rare opportunity to own a true piece of American History. Originally commissioned by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, there are only three sets in existence. Mr. Sorenson developed his own method of making the dolls, first sculpting the features in clay. This is covered in order to make a mold. In the mold is castpapier-m̢ch̩ which is covered in a thin coating of wax. His own formula incorporated the flesh tones and the color right into the wax.
